Today, we’re giving a warm welcome to Eric Thompson – the founder of Oregon Homeworks. Oregon Homeworks is a local real estate developer that builds some of the Portland’s coolest and most unique custom homes. Eric lives in NW Portland with his son Luke (14) and dog Bradley. If he’s not watching Luke play lacrosse, he can likely be found at a Beaver football game with his son Jacob (junior at OSU), or finding a great new downtown restaurant with his daughter Ana (sophomore at PSU).
Where are you from originally?
Heppner, OR (God’s country).
Who is your role model and why?
My father. He’s one of the smartest people I know and could have done anything. He focused on building a 4-generation family cattle ranch, which is one of the largest in Oregon.
What has been the most rewarding part about being the owner of Oregon Homeworks?
Avoiding constant business travel to focus on my kids.
What’s your spirit animal and why?
I have a very cool wire-haired pointer named Bradley that I go pheasant hunting with. Does that count?
Tell us about an accomplishment that you consider to be the most significant in your career.
Leaving a 22+ year corporate career, doing a 180, and starting my own small business doing something that I’m truly passionate about.
If you could take a year-long sabbatical, describe what you would do with your time.
Snow ski the world…with some golf thrown in.
What are you looking forward to most as a member of EO Portland?
Meeting wicked smart business owners that challenge me to keep up with them.
